http://www.kevinathompson.com/Kevin is the Lead Pastor of Community Bible Church, a multi-site church in the Greater Fort Smith Region. He enjoys writing on leadership, marriage, parenting (specifically parenting a child with special needs), faith, and a variety of topics.
Before coming to Community Bible Church in 2002, first as the Executive Pastor and now as Lead Pastor, he lived in Birmingham, AL. Kevin served on staff at Shades Mountain Baptist Church while attending Beeson Divinity School from which he received a Master of Divinity Degree. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Pastoral Ministry in 1999.
He met his wife, Jenny, while in college and they have been married since 2000. They have two children, Ella and Silas.
Jesus, Leadership, and the Courage to Serve
It is often easier to take the well-traveled road, but now is not the time to grow apathetic. It is not the time for good people to do nothing. Kevin understands the temptation of apathy but encourages us to confront it.
You Control What Matters Most
People assume the surfer is in control, and he does control his body and the board, but clearly the ocean is in charge; the ocean can do what it wants with the surfer. The same is true in leadership. Most leaders live in a fascinating dilemma. Others see them as controlling everything, but they feel as though they are in control of nothing.
What No One Tells You about Being a Leader
Good leadership demands that we understand what we control and what we do not. Among numerous healthy reasons for this is so that when followers are playing the blame game, we are not drawn into an unhealthy discourse: both with others, and within our mind’s conversation.
