Calling

Who on earth would choose to be a leader? It is such a tough calling. It rarely leads to fame or fortune. Over the years as a leader I’ve often wondered about the cost and whether it is all worth it.

Being the leader doesn’t mean being the only voice. It means knowing how to curate the voices that will bring the right ideas to help your team effectively carry out the mission. Be the curator!

Leaders fall into two categories ‒ those who flourish and those who don’t. What are common traits of flourishing leaders? I believe what happened in the early church gives us clues to traits of a flourishing leader.

Another 1,262,775,000 people reside in 533 cities over 1 million up to 10 million. This adds another 35% of the world’s urban population living in these cities of 1 to 10 million people. So, where are the rest of the urban people of the world?

Expatriates are often put into positions of leadership simply by nature of our physical presence or because of a certain number of years lived in a place. Sometimes it is because a person is a gifted leader, sometimes they are a reluctant leader, sometimes it happens organically, and sometimes it is an appointment.

Changing the world can start with a dream but without the necessary tools to make that dream a reality, it could remain fleeting and intangible. There are dreams we cannot forget, that rattle around in our brains and keep us coming back. If we can walk along the path to successfully seeing a dream turn into a plan, we can see millions of live changed.

In chasing David from one rocky mountain top to the next ravine, from cave to cavern, he abandoned the priorities of a king. While his kingdom was in peril he engaged in a flea hunt!
